The 2023 AEDC Three-Year Outlook Luncheon highlighted several key points about Anchorage's economic prospects. Anchorage prides itself on its unique qualities, such as its natural beauty and economic significance within Alaska. However, global macroeconomic forces, including high inflation, the Federal Reserve's interest rate increases, geopolitical tensions, foreign manufacturing, and investment capital availability, impact Anchorage's economic outlook.

Today, we celebrate the dedicated professionals in the logistics sector who keep things running smoothly. From commercial to military operations, logistics plays a vital role. In 2022, we were awarded a logistics services contract with the General Services Administration (GSA) to support DoD and Federal civilian customers in Alaska. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible GSA-ASCI team for their hard work in coordinating transportation and delivering supplies across the state, even to remote areas. Thank you for your unwavering dedication!

ASCI was honored to attend the U.S. Small Business Administration 2023 Alaska Small Business Week Honors & Awards Luncheon, an event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of small businesses. This unique opportunity allowed us to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs, industry experts, and government officials who share our passion for supporting and empowering small business owners.

Our Business Development Manager Rosita Johnson had the privilege of speaking to a group of high school girls that are part of the Alaska Resource Education P.O.W.R. (Powerful Opportunities for Women in Resources) program. The focus of the presentation was supply chain management and the many exciting opportunities that exist for women in this field.

The Alaska Support Industry Alliance recently hosted the 2023 Meet Alaska conference. The event brought together a diverse group of professionals from different industries, including state & local government, energy, and mining, and featured keynote speeches by the Alliance Board President Randy Belts and U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management hosted a two-day workshop in February, focused on Alaska's potential to play a key role in America's clean energy transition. The event featured keynote speeches by Senator Lisa Murkowski and Governor Mike Dunleavy, as well as a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Alaska's energy as well as mining sector.

We recently attended the 2023 Alaska Economic Forecast Luncheon event in Anchorage, which brought together business leaders and economic experts to discuss the state's economic outlook for the coming year. The event featured details from the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) survey of 200+ local businesses and organizations.

In an interview with Alaska Business magazine, Rosita Johnson, ASCI’s Business Development Manager, discussed the challenges of warehousing and logistics in Alaska. She highlighted the unique difficulties of operating in Alaska due to the state's vast size and remote location, as well as its challenging weather and seasonal fluctuations in demand.
